Frequently Asked Questions
How high can you fly?
The EU and CAA guidelines stipulate a maximum altitude of 120m (400ft). Higher altitudes can be achieved however this requires additional time and prior approval.
Can you fly at Events?
Yes! For crowds under 1,000 people we need to stay at least 50m away , for crowds over 1,000 people this distance increases to 150m.
Can you fly in a city? For example Lisbon?
Yes, in-fact I have done a couple of great projects in cities on my travels including Lisbon. It takes additional planning but invest the time and the results are impressive!
Can you fly at night?
Yes, having proved my safety standards to the CAA I hold additional permission to film at night. A day time recce is required in order to complete the flight.
What wind conditions should be considered?
For the best results I recommend flying in wind under 20 km/h, however my drones are capable of wind speeds up to 35 km/h.
How far can you fly?
I are able to fly my drones up to 500m away from where I (the pilot) is standing, although visual line of sight must be maintained at all times. Again, greater distances can be achieved however this requires additional time and prior approval.
Where can you fly?
My licence permits me to operate in the EU and the UK, however for private takeoff and landing sites, I must obtain landowner permission.
Can you fly in the rain?
Unfortunately I cannot fly in the rain, this is due to exposed electronic points on the drone and water on the lens will ruin the shot. I will be flexible to find a suitable day!
Can you operate abroad?
Certainly, I have filmed in a number of different countries over the years from the Coast of Brittany in France and the Pyrenees in Spain to the Salvador Peninsula in Brazil.
